WHY I JOINED PVUC Print E-mail

plummer_family_photo_edit.jpgThe Plummer family has been involved with PVUC for over 13 years. When we moved to Ajax, we were looking for a place to worship and enjoy fellowship, like the church community that Brenda had grown up with at Cathcart United Church. PVUC seemed like a perfect fit! I quickly transferred my membership here. The congregation was always warm and welcoming, and PVUC had a vibrant Sunday School. Brenda became a Sunday school teacher and we soon welcomed two children Jordan and Andrew, who have “grown up” at PVUC. Both children were baptized here and have really enjoyed becoming involved. They are members of the Sunday School, Morning Dove choir as well as having active participation in musicals. They have enjoyed the experience of being part of the worship service, singing or reading scriptures. PVUC has always been a place of warm welcome where our faith journey has grown and been supported.
Another reason that we have joined PVUC is because of the many groups that we can become involved in. Brenda really enjoys the United Church Women group and is a co-leader. The UCW is a thriving group that works together to present interesting programmes about community groups, as well as raise large amounts of money that goes back to support our church and many community initiatives. It makes me feel good knowing that I am part of this wonderful group of women who put their words and faith into action! I also enjoy my responsibilities of being an elder, member of the Church Board and Christian Education Committee. Jeff has become a leader of the PVUC- supported First Pickering Beaver and Cub groups.
We feel fortunate to be part of such a wonderful church family. The people are what make PVUC so special. We know that they will support us on our faith journey, offer words of encouragement or just be there with a friendly “hello”. The music is another reason we come to PVUC. Anne Mizen, David Kai, the Choirs and  musical guests often share with us their talents, which always enhances the worship service and makes it even more meaningful.
We are especially fortunate to have the spiritual leadership of Rev.David Jones and David Kai, whose insightful and enthusiastic messages always leave us with something to think about and help strengthen our Christian faith.
PVUC is a wonderful place to call “home”. We encourage you to join us, and see what we are talking about! God Bless!
